Block explorers

Who this is for: developers checking whether a transaction landed, what a contract's current state is, or whether a contract is verified.

Prerequisites: none. You only need the address or transaction hash you're checking.

Steps: check a transaction

1

1. Go to the explorer for the network you used

From /reference/explorers. Mainnet and Beam testnet each have their own explorer; a transaction on one will not show up on the other.

2
3

3. Confirm the status and block number

Confirm the status shown is "Success" and note the block number for finality.

Steps: read or verify contract state

1

1. Go to the same explorer and paste the contract's address

2

2. Check the Contract tab

If the contract has been verified (see Verify a contract with Hardhat or Verify a contract with Truffle), the Contract tab shows source code and a Read Contract panel for calling view functions directly from the browser, without writing any code.

3

3. Note the limits for unverified contracts

Unverified contracts still show raw transaction history and bytecode, but not readable source or a call panel.

Verify it worked

The explorer shows your transaction as confirmed, or your contract's address page loads with the activity you expect. If you're checking a fresh deploy from the Quickstart, the contract-creation transaction should appear within a block or two.

Troubleshooting

"Transaction not found"

You're likely searching the wrong network's explorer. Recheck which network you actually transacted on against /reference/explorers.

Contract shows no source code / no Read Contract tab
You're looking at testnet-explorer.lumia.org and it won't load

That's the retired testnet's dead explorer, not Beam. See /reference/retired-testnet and use the Beam explorer listed in /reference/explorers instead.
