# Get testnet tokens faucet

**Who this is for:** developers who need funds on Beam testnet to pay gas for test transactions.

**Prerequisites:** a wallet already pointed at Beam testnet. See [Add Lumia to MetaMask](file:///5838283/wallets/Add-Lumia-to-MetaMask.md) or [Add Lumia to FoxWallet](file:///5838283/wallets/Add-Lumia-to-FoxWallet.md).

**Time:** under a minute to submit a claim; the tokens arrive shortly after.

#### 1. Confirm your wallet is on Beam testnet

Not the retired testnet. Check the chain ID against [`/reference/networks`](file:///reference/Networks-and-endpoints.md).

#### 2. Copy your wallet's address

#### 3. Go to the faucet URL

Listed at [`/reference/faucet`](file:///reference/Testnet-faucet.md), which also has the current claim amount and cooldown.

#### 4. Submit your address

Complete any verification the faucet asks for.

#### 5. Wait for the transaction to land

Then check your balance.

## Verify it worked

Your wallet's Beam testnet balance increases by the claim amount listed at [`/reference/faucet`](file:///reference/Testnet-faucet.md). You can also confirm the incoming transaction on the Beam explorer.

## Troubleshooting

The faucet is on a per-address cooldown; check [`/reference/faucet`](file:///reference/Testnet-faucet.md) for the current cooldown period.

<summary>Funds don't show up in your wallet</summary>

Confirm your wallet is actually on Beam testnet (chain ID matches [`/reference/networks`](file:///reference/Networks-and-endpoints.md)), not the retired network. Funds sent to a Beam address won't appear while your wallet is pointed elsewhere.
