# Gas and fees

### Fee calculation

| Formula  | `L2{gas_fee} = L1{gas_fee} * Factor` (from docs.lumia.org)                                                                                                        |
| Behavior | docs.lumia.org states L2 gas prices "linearly follow" L1 prices, and that transaction cost can be reduced by timing transactions during lower L1 network activity |
