# Frequently asked questions

**Who this is for:** anyone using Lumia (developer, issuer, node operator, or general user) with a question that isn't specific to one section of the docs. At the end of this page you'll have an answer, or a link to the page that does.

<details>

<summary>Which network should I be using, mainnet or Beam?</summary>

Use **mainnet** for anything real: production apps, real assets, real funds. Use **Beam testnet** for development and testing. Every value you need to configure either (chain ID, RPC, explorer, and anything else confirmed) lives at [Networks](file:///5838283/reference/Networks-and-endpoints.md); copy it from there rather than from an old bookmark.

There is also a retired network that is not a live Lumia network and is not another name for Beam. If a tutorial or config file points at it, it's stale; see [Retired testnet](file:///5838283/reference/Retired-testnet-1952959480.md) for what it was and how to tell you're on it.

<summary>Why doesn't my contract behave the same as on Ethereum mainnet?</summary>

Lumia is EVM-equivalent but not identical at the opcode level. Some opcodes and precompiles are modified or unsupported. The full, canonical table is at [EVM opcodes](file:///5838283/reference/EVM-opcode-support.md); don't rely on assumptions carried over from another chain.

<details>

<summary>How do I get a wallet set up for Lumia?</summary>

Start at [Getting a wallet](file:///5838283/use/wallets/Getting-a-wallet.md) for the general path, or [Add Lumia to MetaMask](file:///5838283/build/wallets/Add-Lumia-to-MetaMask.md) / [Add Lumia to FoxWallet](file:///5838283/build/wallets/Add-Lumia-to-FoxWallet.md) if you already know which wallet you're using and just need the network added.

</details>

<details>

<summary>How do I move assets on or off Lumia?</summary>

That's bridging, not swapping. See [Bridging assets](file:///5838283/use/bridge/Bridging-assets-user-guide.md) for the user-facing walkthrough, or [Bridge assets to/from Lumia L2 (technical)](file:///5838283/build/bridge/Bridge-assets-to-from-Lumia-L2.md) for the developer/contract-level view.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Where do I find node-operator documentation?</summary>

[Run a Node](file:///5838283/run-a-node/Run-a-node.md). It covers running your own RPC node, zkNode/validium node, or DA light client: hardware requirements, setup, and troubleshooting.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Is Run a Node the same thing as HyperNodes?</summary>

**No.** [Run a Node](file:///5838283/run-a-node/Run-a-node.md) is generic, self-run node infrastructure that anyone can set up. [HyperNodes](file:///5838283/pulse/HyperNodes.md) is Lumia's separate commercial node product. If you're trying to run your own infrastructure, you want Run a Node. If you're asking about your existing HyperNodes, start on the HyperNodes page, and use [Contact & support channels](broken://pages/279eed6eabb30ad71ea08504a54929dd3d72d1f3) for anything account-specific.

<details>

<summary>I don't see my term defined here</summary>

Check the [Glossary](broken://pages/8d9818e098eb9ccb5b47263c88aed5ad286252b6). Jargon used across these docs (RWA, Validium, sequencer, DA, and the rest) is defined there once, with a link to the full page for each.

<summary>My question isn't answered here</summary>

Use [Contact & support channels](broken://pages/279eed6eabb30ad71ea08504a54929dd3d72d1f3). The Telegram bot is the fastest general-purpose channel if you're not sure which email applies.
